Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM) introduces a mild electrical current into an area of damaged soft tissue. Studies have shown that his low amperage/low voltage electrical current delivered through the skin repairs tissues at a cellular level. It has a resonance effect on the body that raises ATP synthases; a very large group of highly conserved enzymes.
FSM was developed by Carol McMakin, MA, DC, beginning in 1996 with the treatment for myofascial pain. She developed protocols from frequencies passed on by a Canadian osteopath in the 1920s. Dr. McMakin has continued to develop and teach protocols for pain management and many other health concerns including sports injuries. Hundreds of practitioners in the US and around the world take her basic, advanced and sports injury FSM seminars and use her very effective techniques.
Microcurrent pads are placed on targeted areas of the body for connection to the FSM units; or a portable microcurrent pad can be placed on the targeted area with frequencies and protocols run from a mobile phone app. Complete protocols and/or individual frequencies are run for 30 minutes to an hour. Clients report that the treatments are relaxing and painless.
FSM helps to amplify some light treatment results, especially for musculoskeletal issues.
