About Polychromatic Light Therapy
Polychromatic Light Therapy (PLT) the simultaneous use of two or more wavelengths of light (color) provided by light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The biological effects of PLT are called photobiomodulation (PBM). Researchers hypothesize the benefit of polychromatic light is the synergistic effect of infrared (IR) with either red or blue colors to penetrate tissues more deeply than a monochronic application.
Treatment is simple and painless. Flexible InLight Therapy pads containing IR and visible red or blue diodes are placed directly on the skin over targeted areas. Light energy from the diodes penetrates beneath the skin and is absorbed by proteins within cells beneath the skin. These cells release nitric oxide, the body's natural vasodilator that is crucial to the health of arteries.
After just 20 minutes of treatment, blood flow is increased to nerves and other tissues and persists for several hours after the pads are removed.
Physical Effects of Polychromatic Light Therapy
Increased circulation through the formation of new capillaries that deliver more oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
Accelerated healing from increased production of ATP and the release of Nitric Oxide for cell regeneration; and increased oxygenation.
Reduced scarring and damaged tissue repair from the Increase of collagen production.
Reduced swelling through the greatly increased flow of the lymph system.
Pain relief from the release of positive ions to reduce excitability of nervous tissue in areas being treated.
Increased ability to fight infection due to increase in phagocyte cell production.
